Why should you sponsor a student to attend WAS?

There are several answers, but the most important is this is your opportunity to change a life.  Maybe by doing so you will change the world.  Below are just some of the things that happen when a student attends the World Affairs Seminar:
  • Preconceptions about the world are challenged.
  • Participants are empowered; they gain an outlet to participate in the world.
  • Horizons are expanded as students become aware of their role as a world citizen.
  • Participants engage in interaction and dialogue with foreign scholars, peers and experts.
  • World views are changed as they "wear others’ shoes."
  • In becoming good world citizens they become better members of their community.
  • Participants learn the skills to become a leader.
  • World Affairs Seminar participants have an edge on their college and job applications.
  • WAS serves as a gateway for students to go and do bigger things:
    • Travel to Africa, South America to teach English
    • Work for the United Nations, World Bank
    • Become Rotary and Lions members
    • Head a community outreach program
